The KiddieGAIT™ foot and ankle brace is a dynamic carbon composite for children. This orthosis is specially made for toddlers with little feet to allow movement and a natural biomechanical gait pattern.

It is made from carbon composite with anterior shell, laterial strut, and an engineered footplate with open heel. KiddieGAIT™ provides proximal deficits by aiding in the management of crouch gait or knee hyperextension. This standard off the shelf item has a removable and replaceable soft interface. A custom foot orthotic is highly recommended in conjunction with a KiddieGAIT™ to help keep the child’s foot in a more neutral position on weight bearing during ambulation.

This paediatric foot and ankle brace is intended to support the foot/ankle complex in a more functional posture while allowing more normal rotation of movement during the developmental years.

Recommendations for the grade of foot related problems:

• Mild deep and firm FO
• Moderate UCB (deep FO with trim line below ankle)
• Severe and/or tight Achilles tendon SMO (supra malleolar Orthosis/molded inner boot
• Low tone/pronation soft SMO (such as SureStep)

Indications

Both the KiddieGAIT™ and KiddieROCKER™ orthosis are designed to support foot drop, gait deviations secondary to proprioceptive deficit, toe-walking with no midfoot collapse, tight Achilles tendon, supra malleolar Orthosis, low tone crouch gait in conditions such as Spina Bifida, Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy and Myelomeningocele in children.
